Senior Civils Quality Engineer

Shape the Quality Standards Behind a Major UK Energy Infrastructure Project.

Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Civils Quality Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Teesside.

Role Purpose:

• Support the Project Quality Manager in ensuring the quality function delivers to the highest standards.
• Monitor and verify project quality activities to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, project quality plans, and associated procedures.
• Ensure all installed works are completed in line with quality and integrity requirements, as well as applicable international codes and standards.
• Act as a focal point for quality and inspection activities across contractors and subcontractors.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Conduct all duties in a safe and professional manner, ensuring compliance with project HSE requirements.
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control requirements are delivered in accordance with project and contract expectations.
• Act as the focal point for quality and inspection activities involving contractors and subcontractors.
• Carry out internal and external technical reviews and audits of quality systems and processes.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of quality plans, procedures, and governing documentation.
• Identify required inspection activities, coordinate inspection resources, and support reporting processes.
• Ensure inspection and test plans (ITPs) are implemented, complied with, and progressively signed off.
• Undertake on-site surveillance activities to verify procedural compliance and workmanship standards.
• Support off-site surveillance activities to ensure contractor and subcontractor compliance with project requirements.
• Attend and facilitate quality-related meetings with project stakeholders and contractor teams.
• Promote effective collaboration between construction, contractor, and quality teams.
• Review and process construction quality documentation to support timely approvals and close-out.
• Monitor and support the review and approval of final project data dossiers and quality records.
• Provide quality reporting and attend project management and contractor meetings as required.
• Foster positive working relationships and effective communication across all project parties.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Right First Time and Lessons Learned workshops.
• Ensure compliance with company quality policies, procedures, and project quality objectives.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• HNC in a Technical or Quality Management discipline, equivalent qualification, or demonstrable relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in quality and/or inspection roles within oil & gas, petrochemical, infrastructure, or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards.
• Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience reviewing final manufacturing data books and inspection records.
• Experience conducting quality audits and applying recognised auditing techniques.
• Knowledge of Right First Time (RFT) processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with Self-Verification and Oversight (SV&O) processes is advantageous.
• Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is desirable.
